Busy busy busy
Due to the overwhelming demand for a place at our February event, it seems that the Edinburgh Cake Ladies are going to be busy in 2012.
We were terribly upset that we couldn’t give everyone a place at the next cake meeting, but it’s just not practical to have 50+ people (all with their own cake) in the one place.
Numbers will continue to be kept low at cake events in future and we will be keeping an attendees list from February’s event onwards, to make sure the same people aren’t missing out time and time again in the draws for places.
Other cakey plans are afoot and you should note these dates in your diaries.
Tuesday 21st February 2012 – The ‘Year of the Cake’ event at Earthy Foods. This meeting is now full and waiting list in place.
Wednesday 7th March 2012 – A drop-in morning Edinburgh Cake Ladies social meeting. This enables us to reach out to more people who have time available during the day such as freelancers, those with kids at school etc. This will be the inaugural event that will be repeated on the first Wednesday of every month if it proves to be popular. The venue will change on a monthly basis to cover as many cakey places across town. The first event venue’s details will be released in due course.
Saturday March 17th 2012 – A night out at Kitchen Porter’s. Temporarily moving away from cake to have a meal at one of Edinburgh’s supper clubs. There are 17 places available and tickets will be released at 10am on Saturday 4th February on a first come first served basis. Some of the Edinburgh Cake Ladies are super quick with emails, so you need to send your request for a place around 10am.
Wednesday March 21st 2012 – A full cake event in the evening. ‘Edinburgh Cake Ladies Get Tarty’. Details and venue to follow.
Coming up in April/May:
– Another full cake event each month
– Another drop-in social evening
– A Willy Wonka-esque golden ticket event at a secret location.
There will of course be other ‘pop-up’ meetings in the form of afternoon tea/meals out etc if there’s the demand. If you have any ideas or are in contact with venues that would be happy to host us, please get in touch.
Please remember that there is no financial gain for the organisers of the Edinburgh Cake Ladies and that all the administration is done on a voluntary basis. If you would like to help run a future event please get in touch.
