2012 Year of the Cake

Well ladies and gent(s) it’s official, 2012 is the Year of the Cake! To celebrate this our next Edinburgh Cake Ladies evening will be Tuesday 21st February 2012 6.30pm – 8.30pm.

There will be 21 spaces available for old and new bakers; to secure a spot for you and your cake, keep them peepers peeled on Saturday 21st January 2012 at noon GMT. This is when we will be releasing the places. You can apply by subscribing to this blog, a notification will be sent when the post is published or bookmark this page and be in the right place at the right time; then email us to request a plate (well place) then wait for your confirmation.

At noon on Monday, 23rd January, the list of attendees will be posted and you can then let us what cake you are going to bake. This extravaganza is for bakers only (if you are aprehensive about coming on your own, drop us an email) and don’t forget to your overnight cases to take home any leftovers.

And the theme? Yes, you’ve guessed it

THE YEAR OF THE CAKE

It can be any cake you like from a simple Victoria sandwich or banana loaf to an elaborate and decadent masterpiece. The scope is far reaching to allow new members not to feel intimidated by a more rigid theme. This isn’t a competition; no cake is judged on taste or looks. If you have a disaster on the day, bring it anyway, because we are a greedy bunch and we hate to see wasted cake and efforts.

The only thing we ask is that it is a full sized cake that can be cut into 8-10 slices. Unfortunately, cupcakes and tray bakes won’t be allowed.

As always, the location will be kept secret until a week before the event

After the success of previous evenings, make sure you have all these details in your diary, otherwise you may be disappointed.

A list of attendees and their cakes will be posted here along with those on the waiting list.

On your marks, get set, let’s bake and eat CAKE!
